Mechanism of action

As a result of the transformation, a series of impulses are formed, reminiscent of a blow or push. These rhythmic beats cause a response from the nerve endings, promoting the excitation of synapses. At the same time, a focus of tension is created in the central nervous system, effectively suppressing spasm and painful sensations.

Simultaneously with the stimulation of its own currents, the amplipulse activates the production of endorphins in brain cells and has a slight relaxing effect. The simultaneous influence of these mechanisms provides almost 100% relief from discomfort and pain.

In addition, the use of an amplipulse leads to muscle contraction, causing blood flow to the problem area and eliminating the source of inflammation. Along with this, venous circulation also improves - in patients, swelling decreases, metabolism improves and congestion in the limbs is eliminated.

Compared to direct and low-frequency currents, the amplipulse acts more sparingly, so there is no burning, tingling or heat when used. On the contrary, patients find the procedure very comfortable and compare it to a massage session.

Indications and contraindications

Preparation

There is no preparation as such for amplipulse physiotherapy. The patient only needs to show up for treatment in good health at the specified time. Fever, rash on the body, the presence of wounds, pimples and scratches at the site where the electrodes are applied will be a contraindication to physiotherapy. When using the amplipulse intracavitarily, a preliminary diet will be required.

How is the treatment carried out?

Amplipulse is performed in a physical therapy room. The patient can stand, sit or lie - it all depends on the affected area.

The doctor installs the electrodes, then turns on the device and configures the desired treatment option. The current strength is selected manually and adjusted depending on the patient’s sensations. Moreover, with each subsequent session the impulse increases. As a result, the patient should feel oscillatory movements.

There are two methods for conducting an amplipulse:

  • percutaneous;
  • intracavitary.

In the first case, a damp cloth folded in several layers is applied to the skin above the sore spot, and an electrode is attached on top. The structure is fixed with an elastic bandage or pressed with a weight. The second electrode is installed on the opposite side or not far from the first and is also fixed.

When conducting an amplipulse intracavitarily, sterile tips are used. They are coated with gel and slowly introduced into the cavity. With this method of therapy, it is allowed to use only the first operating mode of the amplipulse. The current strength is increased in small doses until a slight vibration appears.

The average duration of exposure to one zone is 7–10 minutes, the total duration of the manipulation can be up to 1 hour.

Safety precautions

Today, for amplipulse treatment, in most cases, models 4 and 5 are used. They are characterized by safety and a high degree of reliability. To simultaneously perform electrotherapy and electrophoresis, the Amplipulse-7 model is used.

Each device comes complete with electrodes for different purposes, so there is no need to look for additional equipment. The second class of protection does not require mandatory grounding and allows the use of medical devices not only in a physiotherapy room, but also in any hospital department.

The Amplipulse device is lightweight and easy to use. However, when working with it, you must follow basic safety recommendations:

  • It is prohibited to use a faulty device;
  • The device should be plugged in and turned off only when the handle is in zero position;
  • If it is necessary to move the electrodes during treatment, the current should also be reduced to a minimum.

When the Amplipulse device is connected to the network, you cannot wipe it with a damp cloth, open the casing, or change parts. If problems occur in the operation of the device, you must turn off the device, install an appropriate sign on it and notify management about the breakdown.

The benefits and harms of amplipulse

The therapeutic effect of the amplipulse is caused by a series of electrical impulses of a given strength. In the intervals between them, muscle fibers relax. This ensures deep penetration carrier waves, warming up and increasing blood circulation in the affected area.

What does amplipulse do:

  • eliminates inflammatory foci and accelerates the resorption of infiltrates;
  • improves muscle tone, stimulates tissue regeneration, prevents atrophy;
  • increases local metabolism;
  • relieves swelling and has a vasodilating effect.

In addition, the amplipulse stimulates the secretion of internal organs, accelerates bile secretion and facilitates the outflow of urine. The procedure perfectly relaxes and relieves muscle spasms.

As for the harm from the amplipulse, it exists. But it is not the procedure itself that has a negative impact, but the illiterate actions of medical personnel. For example, setting the current too high can cause burns. And prescribing amplipulse to people with a pacemaker or metal prostheses will end very badly.

When will the first results of the treatment be seen?

Physiotherapists warn that one should not expect a quick effect from the amplipulse. For the condition to noticeably improve and remain so for a long period, at least 10–15 procedures will be required. At the same time, physiotherapy gives a very lasting result, so treatment can be repeated every 1–1.5 years.

Amplipulse therapy for osteochondrosis

The main role of the amplipulse in spinal osteochondrosis is to localize pain and relieve muscle spasm. As a result of improved blood circulation, the restoration of cartilage tissue is accelerated, inflammation disappears, and regeneration processes are activated. When prescribed correctly, the procedure can lead to long-term and stable remission.

The use of amplipulse is especially effective in the early stages of osteochondrosis, until degenerative changes have affected the intervertebral tissues and caused. A good result for osteochondrosis is obtained by combining modulated currents with medicines. In this case, a hydrophilic pad is impregnated with a medicinal solution and placed between the body and the electrode.

Physiotherapy with amplipulse should only be performed medical worker and as prescribed by the attending physician. Using the device on your own without making a diagnosis can lead to unpleasant consequences. Also, you cannot use amplipulse therapy if you are individually intolerant to currents and have contraindications.
