DIY car tire stork. Tire stork. Photo of crafts from tires

good day Dear friends, I never cease to be amazed at our masters. What only they do not come up with, if only everything around was beautiful and comfortable. From ordinary wheels (tires), they create both simple and more complex works that decorate their territory.
So Valentina Burimova and her husband created a beautiful courtyard near their house with interesting beautiful crafts from tires... Nobody can pass by this beautiful courtyard, everyone stops, examines, scrutinizes and, of course, is photographed next to them. Everyone admires these works, because from ordinary old tires, they create beautiful and unusual crafts for your site.
Just look how beautiful it turned out. Here, at first glance, you will not guess that it is made of ordinary tires (tires). The tires are cut into the desired pieces and attached to the bus that serves as a frame for the craft.

But it takes a lot of time and more than one tire to make one owl, about 10 tires are spent on making one such bird. We cut the tires in the form of feathers and then assemble them onto the frame, fasten everything with self-tapping screws to the body. The eagle is made of wheels (tires) according to the same principle.

Storks and other birds are made from wheels with a metal cord. Then Valentina and her husband cut the wire electric jigsaw and a file for metal. The side of the wheel runs without a cord, so it can be cut with a sharp knife.
The wing is cut from tires and then assembled and attached to the body with self-tapping screws. It takes about 2.5 - 3 tires to make one stork. The head and beak are made of wood and then painted.

These are such cute swans, storks made of tires, but that's not all, see the rest interesting crafts from tires that adorn the courtyard in which the author of these wonderful works lives.

Crafts from tires with your own hands is a common phenomenon. The starting material is strong, resistant, acceptably amenable to processing at home, and there is no regular acceptance of worn-out tires for disposal at a more or less attractive price and is not yet expected. Craftsmen are gifted, quick-witted people, and sometimes from such an ignoble material as rubber tires, they create objects that are quite aesthetic, see fig. :

However, the purpose of this publication is not to delve into the intricacies of rubber decor. Decorations and fun crafts on the site are part of the landscape design. Refer it to decorative art or highlight it in independent view the applied masters have not yet decided finally, and in all applied art the canons are even less rigid and more linked to practical needs than in the visual arts. Therefore, your "like - dislike" in relation to rubber products in in this case defining criterion for assessment. But when working with rubber, you need to have a clear idea of its properties - they are far from only aesthetic value.

What you need to know about tires?

The tire of a modern car is a complex multi-layer product. In general, it consists, if you go from the inside out, from:

  • Inner protective layer made of soft rubber. In tires with tubes, it protects the cylinder shell from wiping. The inner layer of tubeless tires is made of gas-tight rubber, which flows slightly under pressure so that the heel of the tire adheres hermetically to the rim of the wheel.
  • Shock-absorbing damping layer. Damping filler (harder rubber) absorbs shock and vibration. Reinforcement with elastic cords distributes instantaneous point loads over the volume of the damping filler.
  • The tread is an outer durable wear-resistant layer made of the toughest rubber.

Note: in self-healing tires, a layer of self-expanding elastic plastic is located between the inner and shock-absorbing-damping layers.

So, desired properties treads are provided by vulcanization of the raw rubber mass for it using the so-called. ultravulcanizers. The most common of these is tetramethylthiuram disulfide (TMTD). Yes, you are not mistaken. The same tiuram or tiuram D, infamous no less DDT. As a rat poison and insect repellant, it seems to be phased out of use due to its cumulative effects with very bad long-term effects. But there is still no safe substitute for thiuram in the rubber industry - its analogues, if technologically better, are more expensive and no less dangerous.

In the comments to tire crafts, you can find questions like: how to get rid of the tire smell? But things made of rubber and food grade rubber do not smell like tires. This is the same tiuram. It is volatile: it sublimates, passing into a gaseous state from a solid without melting. Of course, if you take the splint with your hands, nothing bad will happen. But regular contact with body surfaces or its presence in residential and / or poorly ventilated areas is highly undesirable.

Thiuram does not carry from old worn tires. But in the mass of rubber, it remains and gradually flows out. Therefore, firstly, from the number of handicrafts made from tires, it is necessary to unambiguously exclude any furniture and accessories for children's games, during which touching the rubber with bare skin is inevitable, pos. 1 and 2 in Fig. Amusing elephant in pos. 2 this is generally bad: after all, the children will regularly fidget about it in places, from the disorders of which later adult life will not come to life. Play equipment made of tires should be made so that you would like to walk on it with your feet and only occasionally touch it with your palms, see below.

Secondly, hanging swing for children and adults. As for the ground balance swing, then on by. 3 unsuccessful example: rubbing of bare skin of legs on bare rubber is inevitable. Swing on pos. 4 will be harmless if the vapor-proof painting of rubber surfaces (e.g. acrylic enamel for outdoor use) is regularly renewed.

Mechanical properties

Tires for different operating conditions are quite different in mechanical properties. This is important for the formation of the appearance of handicrafts from them. Whether it will be possible to give the desired shape to the product from the tire depends, firstly, on whether it is summer or winter. Summer tires are tougher and more difficult to process, but hold their final shape better. Winter - softer and more elastic. Secondly, from the cord in the tire: steel, radial or diagonal, or nylon - radial, diagonal or honeycomb. The type of cord determines how the cut tire will unfold and what shape it will take if the workpiece is turned out. It is impossible to change the resulting shape at home.

Note: Turning out a tire to make a handicraft greatly reduces its harmfulness, because the rubber of the inner layers of the tire is vulcanized by other, safer methods than the tread.

In general, do-it-yourself tire crafts can be made as follows:

  1. Flowerbeds, flowerpots, flower beds, flower beds;
  2. From not turned out tires - seasonal berries for non-marsh herbaceous berries, wintering rhizomes - strawberries, blueberries, lingonberries, blueberries, principals, cloudberries. These crops do not accumulate complex alien organic matter in fruits and hardly accumulate sulfur compounds. If their roots are not in contact with the tread rubber, the crop will be harmless;
  3. Household items for outdoor use and / or non-residential ventilated areas;
  4. Decorative crafts for decorating the site and for fun, subject to the above conditions.

About containers for flowers and bushes made of tires. In this - let's move on to the rest.

From tires to farm

In household crafts made of tires, its high durability, elasticity, ability to absorb mechanical loads and adhesion of the tread to almost any surface come to the fore. In some cases (everything is poison and everything is medicine) even such nasty thing as a vapor of a vulcanizer can be useful.

For example, in pos. 1 fig. below, the upholstery of the treads of the wooden steps of the attic or basement staircase allows you to build a germinating staircase (along which you can climb / descend holding a load with both hands) with an inclination of up to 55-60 degrees. Reducing the usable area taken away by the stairs can be decisive for the layout of the entire structure. Part of the thiuram vapors will penetrate into the wood and remain there, additionally protecting the wood from decay. And if the step breaks under the foot, then a through failure does not form and the likelihood of a serious injury decreases many times over.

Upholstery of the bottom of walls, for example, a barn, with a wide skirting board made of tires (pos. 2) does not only protect the wall from mechanical damage by garden tools. For the above reasons, the likelihood of pests and mold entering such a wall is also reduced many times over. V unheated room it is very important. Well, the use of tires for a home bike parking (item 3) does not require comments.

A drainage well or a waste pit from tires is more than doubtful: harmful sludge accumulates in the annular hollows formed there, which is very difficult to get rid of. Because of this, a septic tank with activated sludge in a shell of tires quickly dies. But the tire as the lower flange belt of a decorative mini-reservoir (pos. 4) is a special issue. For planting the most beautiful aquatic plants, the depth of the reservoir must be significant; in any case, more than the normative depth of soil freezing in a given place (NGP). With increasing depth, the gravitational head of water increases and its seepage into the ground. In this case, the lateral runoff from the reservoir can increase to underground erosion of the soil with all the unpleasant and unnecessary flowing out. The tire shell guides the seepage down. Then, on the contrary, colmatation (colmatage) of the bottom soil intensifies - its compaction under water pressure and the tightening of pores with dense silt. The reservoir quickly begins to hold water, and the biological regime in it is also established faster.

Note: any tires are cut with a jigsaw. Nylon tires can be cut by hand with a sharp hardened steel knife. Tires with steel cord are manually cut with a hacksaw for metal with the end of the blade extended, see fig. on right.

At pos. 5 is not just a ladder made of tires. It was built in a ravine that could not be removed by any other means. Due to the filling with tires, rain erosion in this place stopped, and the entire runoff and slope were stabilized. In this case, the elasticity and high durability of the tires played a positive role: can you imagine a tire washed out by water? And since tires do not form a continuous waterproof coating, surface runoff does not need to be concentrated somewhere nearby - it can disperse and become safe. Therefore, the danger of landslide breakage behind the self-draining retaining wall made of tires (pos. 6) is extremely small in any geological conditions.

Decorative crafts from tires

A beautiful original craft will surely attract the attention of children. And it will make you want to play on it or with it. There is no need to prohibit and dissuade - why offend and suppress natural interest, it is harmful for him (her). But - tires! With her, it is better if the child's attention is limited to looking. If the game has already begun, then so that they do not crawl with their whole body, but more stepped on with their feet.

Technologically, the easiest way to do this is to equip a solid splint figure with a neck and head, see fig. You can't slide forward - your neck gets in the way. Not hers, hers. It is inconvenient to slide back from where you climbed, you need to turn on the patch. You cannot sit on the neck of the figure - a deep narrow gap interferes. Remember the amusing elephant above? He has a gap between the neck and the body is smaller and wider. You can sit tight and turn around to go back - crawling on tires.

Device diagram the simplest figure from a tire with an additive unsuitable for violent merrymaking, is given in Fig.:

The figures of long-necked animals look best in this performance, pos. 1-3 in Fig. below. The pillar of the noble material reduces the tire's visible utility, even if everything is painted uniformly together. In this case, the tire is given by its shape, and the pillar, especially not quite even, creates with it an imaginary asymmetrical contour. If there is no suitable trimming of a log, a short block is suitable for the neck, and a plastic bottle for the head, pos. 4.

You can “smear” a too clear contour of the tire just with your head without a neck, if you choose a suitable prototype of the figure. Elephant in pos. 5, in contrast to the one above, not only does not contribute to inappropriate games (the proportions are different), but also looks livelier. By the way, the pattern of his head was developed on the basis of the pattern of a swan from a tire, see below.

At pos. 5 - original solution, applicable where the figure from behind is not visible or it is inconvenient to view it from there. The flat plywood head and tail look good from a limited area too, and the tail generally makes the figure perceived only visually.

We start cutting rubber

The “head principle” is also used in such rather popular crafts as tire snails. To make them, both round sidewalls are cut out of the tire (they can be useful for something else), and a corrugated strip is used. For the manufacture of snails, tires with a nylon cord are suitable: a corrugated strip of them, turned inside out, coils itself into a spiral. From such a summer tire, a snail with a high shell is obtained (pos. 1 in the figure), and from a winter tire with a low one, pos. 2. The head in both cases is supported by a curved pin made of 6 mm wire rod. A strip from a tire with a steel cord will not turn inside out at all, and the snail will come out of it somewhere the same as in pos. 3.

It is possible to minimize technological operations with rubber (rather laborious) and make the figures attractive only visually by composing them from several tires. The obvious option is the figures sticking out of tires, pos. 1-3 in Fig. below. Their modules are fastened with pieces of the same wire rod. Painted plywood inserts are attached with self-tapping screws. Hands / paws - from a strip with a steel cord (pos. 2) or, more flexible, with nylon, pos. 3.

A decorative figure made of solid tires can also be assembled while lying down, using the "principle of the head" in combination with something foreign rubber nearby, clearly letting you know: there is no play here. And if they play, then carefully. At pos. 4 is a mini solitaire monoclumba. Do not frown in disgust at the "tapeworm". Literally it means "lonely", "only". A monoclumba is planted with one type of plants, and there is only one of them on a monoclumba-tapeworm.

Note: tires in a simple decorative figure can be mixed, lying and standing, pos. 5. You can revive the face by applying the simplest techniques for cutting tires, pos. 6.

Trying to cut the rubber

The easiest way to cut a tire is to make diametrically opposite triangular cuts in its sidewalls. Then the tire is flattened across using a rope loop and a gate-stick, and the converging edges of the cutouts are fastened with self-tapping screws, bolts or brackets made of thin soft wire. If the outer bends of the grooved strip are needed sharper, it is notched to the cord. In this way it is done, for example. fish base from the tire, see fig. on right.

A little more work will be required to cut the grooved strips from a pair of tires. But they will go not only for snails, paws, etc.

It's fun to trample on them, but it's inconvenient to lie on them with your stomach, and you won't be able to roll off the crocodile on the fifth point at all. In the video, see many options for crocodiles made from tires:

Video: crocodiles made of tires

More work will be required to cut out of the tire not the round sidewalls completely, but only from the heel (technical term) - the inner thickened parts with which the tire sits on the rim. But on the other hand, the inner thin edges of the resulting trim can be brought together and sewn, having received a sleeve. Most resistant to transverse deformations sleeves, at the same time quite flexible in length, come out of tires with steel cord. Needed buckling they are attached by inserted inward lengths of wire rod or pipe. Thus, you can, for example, make a voluminous turtle a much more convincing look, see fig. on the right than tire scraps turtles. The latter are generally just stylized as a turtle and therefore are more suitable as the basis for a mini-flower bed made of tires, and voluminous sleeves will also go for boas, caterpillars, elephant legs, etc.

We cut for real

It is convenient to demonstrate the possibilities of complex cutting of a tire along a directed contour using the example of such a popular craft as a swan from a tire. Firstly, a swan of one kind or another is obtained from a tire for any season with any cord. Secondly, the swan from the tire is unsuitable as a play accessory. Thirdly, based on the pattern of the swan, you can make many other different shapes and / or their details.

The marking of the tire for the manufacture of a swan and a scan of the pattern along it are shown in the figure:

Pay attention to the blackened parts of the scan - they will be useful to us soon. The very view of the workpiece cut in this way (inset on the bottom right) gives an idea of its capabilities: by modifying the markings, you can get 50 or more varieties of swans from the tire, see the video:

Video: 50 options for tire swans

However, not every tire produces every desired swan. What exactly can be done and what it will be more suitable for depends on the type of tire (winter, summer) and its cord.

In any case, the shaping of the swan figure is carried out by an insert from a wire rod; its location is shown in pos. 1 pic .:

But the wings cannot be molded only at will. From summer rubber with metal cord, you can make flower beds (portable flower beds), stylized as swans, pos. 2. Also from a summer tire, but with a nylon cord (better - a honeycomb) swans come out with raised wings, pos. 3. The arches of the wings of a swan made of winter rubber with a radial cord (better - steel) can be made split, and the wings - lowered, pos. 4. If the cord is nylon, then it is impossible to cut the arches of the wings from behind (pos. 5): the wings will soon drop by themselves to the point that they are pressed against the sides of the figure.

Relatives near and far

A swan pattern from a tire is almost universal for this type of product. On its basis, you can make not only the head of an elephant, but figures that are very distantly related to birds. But let's start all the same with those that are closer.

To get a rooster (black grouse, pheasant, etc.) from the tire instead of a swan, pos. 1 in the figure, you need to mark half of the grooved tread strip along the length in the proportion of approx. 1/3: 2/3. Most of it is cut out, turned over, this will be the tail. The remainder is cut lengthwise to form a head. The "hanging" parts of the sidewalls are bent and the folds are reinforced with wire rod - these are the wings. It is preferable to take a winter tire with a radial or bias cord (preferably steel).

For a peacock or a firebird (pos. 2), 3 cuts are made in 3/4 of a circle on the sidewalls. Uncut pieces should be in pairs, perpendicular. The first 2 notches lead closer to the grooved part of the tread (these will be the fenders), and the inner 2 are near the heel. The head is formed from the fold of one part of the sidewall with the "skirt". From another tail; its "skirt" is scalloped.

Flamingos (egrets, cranes, storks, marabou) from tires, pos. 3 and 4, the view is quite birdlike, as far as the source material allows. But it's not for nothing that the one in pos. 4, evokes associations with a flying crocodile from anectotes: a flamingo is cut from tires "like a crocodile", only the blanks are displaced along relative to each other. A head is cut out at one protruding end; on the other a tail. For flamingos at pos. 3 you need a winter tire (preferably with a honeycomb cord); the one in pos. 5 will be obtained from any. How to make a flamingo from a tire, see also the plot:

Video: crafts from tires

Technologically not only related, but almost identical to the swan, the unrealistic, but also flying Serpent Gorynych, see the splash screen and in the video gallery below. For him, the head and tail of the bird on the tire are not marked: instead of them, straight stripes are cut. Each of the stripes opens in length into 3 ribbons. One triplet of ribbons is converted to heads; the other in the tails. To make the tire more convincing, it is better to take a softer one with a honeycomb nylon cord; perfect option- tire for European driving conditions. Then rather narrow ribbons can be sewn into the sleeves.

Video: Tire Animals

Combining ...

Of course, all the described cutting and assembly methods decorative crafts of tires are applicable together. One example of what can be achieved by combining them is given in Fig. on right. The tortoise shell is obtained from a cut out round sidewall of a soft tire with a radial or diagonal nylon cord, stretched over an overhead wheel disc and turned inside out. If you cut a blank for the shell from the same tire, but with a honeycomb cord, its edges will bend downward and inward and the shell will turn out to be more convex; then you will need to make cuts in it for the legs of the turtle.

... and invent

And here is a bat from a tire, see next. rice. on the right, a completely original creation, which requires the softest tire with a honeycomb nylon cord. And technologically very complex:

  1. the protrusions of the tread layer are cut off from the workpiece (the damping layer is by no means exposed!) It is most convenient to do this with a boot knife-jamb;
  2. the tire is cut in one place across and turned out;
  3. the outline of the figure is marked on the workpiece;
  4. the inner protective layer is notched along the contour lines just a little short of the middle layer;
  5. one removed part of the inner layer is heated with promphene;
  6. warming up is carried out in snatches for 1-3 minutes per site;
  7. after each portion of heating, try to pry the inner layer with the tip of a sharp knife;
  8. as it began to peel off from the middle, they warm this area further and further, gradually separating the inner layer;
  9. the following areas to be removed are removed in the same way as in paragraphs. 6-8;
  10. when all unnecessary is removed, the figure is finally decorated.

In order to manually obtain a spectacular craft from a tire in this way at home, you need remarkable ingenuity, perseverance, accuracy, nerves of steel and iron hand... But - the result is obvious.

We have all known the song from childhood "Stork on the Roof - Peace on Earth" for a long time. And we already know Alena Zinovieva from the village of Chastaya Dubrava decided to settle in her garden a couple of white storks in love, which symbolize peace in her friendly family... These beautiful birds are also made from waste material: foam plastic, metal mesh, plastic bottles and plastic canisters.

To make storks, we need:

1. Two canisters of 5 liters
2. Metal grid for wings
3. Strong wire
4. Plastic tubes for legs and neck
5. Styrofoam for the head
6. White milk bottles
7. Dark beer halls, 1.5 l each
8. The hose from the vacuum cleaner (can be replaced with a corrugation)

And so let's get started:
Author's words.

1. For the head I use construction foam 10 cm wide
2. I cut out the blank, highlight the eye sockets, make a flat beak.
3. Grind to smoothness with sandpaper, insert eyes (or beads)
4. I glue the eyelids, strengthen the beak with a part of a plastic bottle, gluing it to the Titan. I make the beak of the second stork open.
5. For the torso I take a 5L canister.
6. Cut off the handle.
7. I bend the net in the shape of the canister - the wings of this AISTA will be folded.
8. Round off the "wings".
9. Bend the wire for the legs.
10. One liter milk bottle is cut into 6 feathers.
11. I cut the feathers.
12. I begin to fasten the feathers from the lower part of the body.
13. I reinforce the neck wire and put the hose on it.
14. I screw a row of feathers to the hose with self-tapping screws.
15. Side view.
16. I cut the milk bottle halves into fringes and fasten them around the neck with tape.
17. I start with the flight feathers at the edge of the wing.
18. The second row overlaps the first one by one third.
19. The third and subsequent rows of white bottles.
20. Paws from 0.5 l bottles.
21. Making a torso for the second stork.
22. As with the first, I cut off a part of the canister from above - you need to screw the feathers.
23. I cover the body with feathers, but, unlike the first, I fasten the feathers to the entire canister.
24. This stork has wings slightly open. The first row of feathers from 1.5 l bottles (6 pcs from one)
25. I screw the second row only to the curvature of the wing.
26. The third is for the entire wing.
27. I make a tail, it is short, feathers are slightly spread.
28. Flip the wings over to screw the feathers onto the underside.
29. The last row, covering the edge of the wing, is made of feathers bent in half, rounded on both sides.
30. This is approximately how it looks.
31. Each of the subsequent feathers covers the junction of the previous one.
32. We fasten the wings with self-tapping screws and paint the birds.
